Post pregnancy weight loss- Setting your goals

Many women after giving birth experience a lot of difficulties controlling their weight. Actually, only a small number take measures to tame weight increase on the first days of the post pregnancy period.  The effect of this failure in controlling weight increase is a protracted battle with the negative side effects of post pregnancy weight increase.  One of the reasons why such women experience a myriad of problems in dealing with post pregnancy weight increase is lack of knowledge on how they can keep fit immediately on giving birth. With the responsibility of taking care of the new born weighing hard on them, its not always easy to find time to deal with this problem hence the reason why many of these women only realize when its too late that they cannot cope with the weight of their bodies.

Women tend to add more weight on giving birth, a trend which can be attributed to the requirements of the body during this period. Because the body is usually weak after using much of its energy during child birth, one might be tempted to overeat to try and make up for the lost energy.  The problem with this kind of approach is that it leads to a situation where one adds too much weight leading to serious health complications. Many women are today spending a lot of time and money seeking treatment to conditions that would otherwise have been prevented had they taken heed to the required dietary procedures.  This is further complicated by the fact that some of these health conditions may not fully be treated and those suffering have to go back to the drawing board and start with the basics.

Setting clear goals on what you want to achieve is a sure way of dealing with the problem of post-pregnancy weight increase. Once a woman is working on set goals; it becomes extremely easier to establish the gains made within a stipulated time.  If one realizes they have performed short of the set goals, it gives them time to work on the shortcomings and by the time they are looking at their progress again, they will have had time to rectify any problems or failures spotted.  This is one of the reasons why women should work on a set time table when trying to lose weight as this will help them know if any gains have been made and what to do if they realize they have stagnated.
